Police check in De Panne, what's your experience?

By Elke Vermeulen · 20 June 2026

Last week I was kindly sent away from a parking lot at the coast. Are we allowed to legally stay overnight somewhere nearby, or is it forbidden everywhere?

It's strict at the coast. A farm just inland is often the safest option. Just ask, many farmers don't mind.

Good to know, thanks. I thought it was allowed everywhere as long as you were gone before sunrise.
